Special IDs
The Special IDs records allow sites to perform specific actions on all documents that are received from a specific Email address or fax CSID. This list can be used to automatically discard "junk" Email and faxes or to break an Email feedback loop that was not accounted for in the Email Subject Lines records.
FaxAction Input Server examines this list for the fax CSID or Email address of each incoming document. If it finds a record in the list, the Action specified in the record is executed. The only Action that is currently supported is to not store the incoming document in the database.
This mechanism will override the standard Contact information, so it should be used with care.
To configure Email Subject Lines, from the Maintain menu, select Special IDs. Records in the list can be created, changed, and deleted using the standard list buttons described in the FaxAction Admin Manual.
Changes to records in this list take effect immediately in order to allow disruption of an Email feedback loop or "spam" attack.
Record Details

The Special ID field contains either the Email address or fax CSID that is to be handled by this record.
The Special ID Type dropdown list specifies the type of ID that s contained the Special ID field. This is required because documents could contain a fax CSID formatted like an Email address or an Email address formatted like a fax CSID. The available values for Special ID Type are:
· Fax – Only compare the Special ID to incoming fax CSIDs.
· Mail – Only compare the Special ID to incoming Email addresses.
What happens to the incoming document when a match is made is determined by the value of the Action dropdown list. The available values for Action are:
· Don’t Store in DB – The incoming document is not stored in the FaxAction database and a reply is not sent to the originator. Because the document is not stored in the database, auto-association is not applicable.
· Don’t Auto-Associate – Do not perform auto-association for this ID. This Action is used primarily to prevent auto-association of fax CSIDs that are common to multiple senders, especially when the sender has not entered a CSID in their fax machine. For example, if a CSID is not programmed into the remote fax machine, the CSID within FaxAction will often be displayed as ">missing station id<". If a special id is not entered for this CSID and auto-association is in effect, the CSID will be associated with the account used in the first ad within the first fax that is received with this CSID, which is incorrect.
