User Options

Some of the FaxAction user options, which were previously only available through the FaxAction Client User Preferences dialog, are now available in the new Options section of the FaxAction User record.

The new user options are described below:

Auto Tab

When this option is checked for a specific user, the FaxAction client will automatically tab to the next field in the ad or story header when the current field is full. This behavior only applies to text boxes.

Synch. Scrolling

This option directs the FaxAction client to attempt to keep the image window synchronized with the ad text or OCR text windows when the user scrolls one of these windows. The purpose of this option is to make correcting the OCR or ad text easier by attempting to ensure that the image and ad text windows display approximately the same data. Due to underlying limitations of the controls that are used, the windows will not be able to be perfectly synchronized, but it is fairly close.

This option is only enabled for faxes and images that have been processed by Prime OCR and only in 32-bit Windows Clients.

Don’t "Float" Image

In some circumstances, it might be useful to have the image window not be attached to or "float" above the FaxAction client program. An example of this might be if the original fax image needs to be examined and compared with an ad in the host system’s client application. If this option is checked, the image will not be attached to the FaxAction application, but will appear as a standard application window. As such, it is possible for the image window to "disappear" behind the FaxAction application. Issuing the request to view the image again will bring the window containing the image to the fore once again.

Care has been taken in the client to ensure that all of the image window manipulation functionality, such as tiling, works correctly with this option, however, it is not recommended that the option be left on permanently.

Update Contact on Reassign

Certain sites have requested the ability to automatically update a contact record the first time that a document received from that contact is reassigned by a user from the FaxAction Client’s Pending list.

Within the FaxAction Client, a new field, Update Contact Assignment, has been added to the dialog that is displayed when the user issues the Reassign request. When this field is checked and the document is reassigned to a different user or group, the contact record that the document was received from is automatically updated with the new assignment information. The value of the new FaxAction user preference, Update Contact on Reassign, is automatically loaded into the Update Contact Assignment field when the Reassign dialog is displayed. The user may alter the Update Contact Assignment value when the Reassign dialog is displayed.

This functionality is only enabled if the account was recognized when the document was received. If the document is reassigned to All users, the contact record will not be updated.

Auto Refresh Pending List on Host Error

When a user is viewing the Pending List within the FaxAction Client and a document that the user submitted to the host system is returned with errors, the FaxAction Client automatically refreshes the Pending List in order to inform the user that the document has been returned. This action often disrupts a user’s examination of the items in the Pending List.

There is a relatively new user notification mechanism that displays an icon in the taskbar when one or more new records have been added to the user’s Pending List, which can be used in lieu of the automatic refresh mechanism.

This new option allows each user to choose whether they want to have the list automatically refreshed or not. If the option is selected, the FaxAction Client will automatically refresh the Pending List when a document submitted to the host system is returned with an error. Otherwise, the list will never be automatically refreshed.
