Input Server Changes
Receipts Not Sent by Input Server
Receipt notifications are sent by Notifier now instead of Input Server. This modification will reduce the number of connections to the outbound mail or fax system and will decrease the amount of time required to process an inbound fax.
Additional Data Sources
Input server can now monitor the following new data sources for incoming data:
· FTP Servers – Images or Text/Other files
· Lotus Notes - Email, including attachments
Multiple Data Sources per Input Server
Input Server has been enhanced to monitor multiple directories or email addresses within a given Input Server rather than requiring a separate Input Server for each data item that is to be monitored.
Other Enhancements and Changes
Some of the minor enhancements and changes that have been made to Input Server include:
· A file can be processed without needing to delete it, whether the file is from the local file system or an FTP server.
· Additional communication logging has been added, including communication with FTP servers.
· Additional error handling has been implemented when Input Server is started in order to isolate and identify missing components, such as the FaxPortCallback DLL.
· Some email messages appear with no to, from, etc and don't get routed properly. Some versions of outlook send strangely formatted MIME boundaries that the Email processor could not handle. This problem has been fixed by utilizing a new version of the processor.
· Input Server now stores detailed information about files received through Image and Text/Other types. This information includes the directory that the file was received from and the name of the file and is stored in the new table file_info.
· The number of pages in an image file is now stored in the database to make some of the processing more straightforward.
· If Input Server is monitoring a FaxPort fax server and it loses the connection with the server, it will attempt to reestablish communication ten times, pausing between each retry. If it cannot reconnect to the fax server after that period of time, it will shut down and be restarted by Server Monitor. This is the only way to clear some errors that are encountered with FaxPort.
· Inbound Email was not routing correctly based on the sent-to Email address that was sent in the Email. Input Server has been modified to use the Email address configured in Admin for sent-to routing if the site chooses. Please see the Admin documentation for more information.
Documentation Clarification
When a document is received from an Email or Fax input server, the Input Server attempts to locate a contact record for the Email address or fax CSID. If the contact record is found during this process and the contact record is assigned to All users, Input Server will also read the Sent To routing record for the email address or fax line that the communication was sent to in order to retrieve the routing information.
