FaxAction 1.5 Release Notes

FaxAction 1.5 is now available for bringing your servers up to current levels. Released at year end, this package, is a much simplified way of bringing your server 2 months or 2 years forward, to versions already in installed at several sites.

No more researching what to get and what order to do them in, or executing dozens of scripts!

The update_db_1.5 script is written to test for the change and not repeat it, so not only does it not spew error messages, but it can be rerun if needed!

To install this update:

1. Make at least one backup of the FaxAction, Master, Model, and MSDB databases. Two backups are recommended for safety.

2. Stop the FaxAction Server Monitor service

3. Execute the update_db 1.5.sql script in Query Analyzer.

4. Execute the base_procs 1.5.sql script to install the standard stored procedures.

5. Execute the cust_procs 1.5.sql script to install the site-specific stored procedures.

6. Execute the security 1.5.sql script to provide proper security settings to the tables and procedures.

7. Copy all new programs to the E:\FaxAct directory on the server

8. Copy all new client programs to the client distribution directory on the server

9. Start the FaxAction Server Monitor service

If the script reports something unexpected, call or email for support, and we dial in. PLEASE advise us of your plans!

Of course you do have to do the backups, and you do have to test afterwards! (Some things never change!)

While you are updating, do you need a PRIME update?
